Jorge Suarez – Founder
Jorge Suarez is the founder of Nauqali Strategies LLC. He launched Nauqali at the end of a 10-year stint investing in emerging-markets fixed income, out of a desire to partner with a broader set of clients in navigating the growing range of issues arising from a fragmenting global order.
Jorge’s specialty is in translating and synthesizing developments in international and domestic politics, macroeconomics, and financial markets to help policy- and decisionmakers cut through noise. A proud generalist, Jorge’s work draws from graduate and undergraduate degrees in international affairs, quantitative chops developed over a nearly 20-year career in the financial sector, and an extensive network of contacts in the governments and firms the world over.
Before founding Nauqali, Jorge served most recently on the investment team at Aureana Capital Management, where he focused on sovereign credit in Latin America, Africa, and the Middle East. Prior experience includes advising public and private equity funds active in emerging and frontier markets as well as leading operations for a global boutique investment firm.
Jorge’s academic background in international affairs includes a Master of Science in Foreign Service from the Walsh School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University in Washington, DC, and a Bachelor of Science in Diplomacy and International Relations from Seton Hall University in South Orange, NJ. He is fluent in English, Spanish, French, and Portuguese and has formally studied Arabic, Japanese, Russian, and Swahili. Jorge loves to learn and is never too far from a stack of books.
